As part of the Social Contract's Mission Statement, the organization actively participates in volunteer events throughout Maryland. Listed below are the activities the Social Contract has assisted in.
ONE2ONE POPLAR GROVE - June 22nd, 2019
The Social Contract Officers assisted the Ellicott City Seventh-day Adventist Church's One2One program in the Poplar Grove Community of Baltimore City. This outreach event, run by a community church in the HoCo area, was jointly organized with TSCC to feed the hungry on the streets of inner-city Baltimore with our fresh bakery leftovers in reserves. TSCC Officers assisted the church staff by making sandwiches with TSCC-donated bread/bagels, handing out waters to those in the area, and having conversations with those who live in the area to share their stories.
KIWANIS ONE DAY EVENT
October 8th, 2017
Members of The Social Contract Corporation assisted the Kiwanis Club of Ellicott City at their Kiwanis One Day event. This was a community event that at the Glenwood Community Center where families had an opportunity to have Halloween fun with each other. TSCC members assisted at the craft stations and the hayride.
GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K RACE
June 3rd, 2017
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on June 3rd, 2017 for a local Girls On The Run 5K race in Columbia, MD. We look to inspire and empower today's young female generation like many other runs and events the organization hosts. To support the event and directly connect with the girls, members of the Social Contract were encouraged, kept pace, and ensured the safety of the young runners as running buddies.
SANDWICH MAKING
July 22nd, 2017
The Social Contract Corporation used the money raised from a bake sale they hosted, in May, to purchase sandwich ingredients. This event was a two month project that aimed to help the Grassroots Crisis Intervention provide for families in need; TSCC made a total of 150 sandwiches and delivered them to the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center in Columbia Maryland.
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
April 22nd, 2017
Members of the Social Contract Corporation participated in the local Earth Day celebration at the Howard County Conservancy. This celebration, like the many other Earth Day events, brought awareness to the importance of maintaining and giving back to the nature. The Social Contract Corporation was able to plant a total of eight trees and is proud to be a part of projects that will have long lasting impacts!
GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K
December 3rd, 2016
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on December 3rd, 2016 for a local Girls On The Run 5K race. Held in Columbia, MD, this run, like many other runs and events the organization hosts, looks to inspire and empower today's young female generation. Members of the Social Contract assisted with clean-up after the race including transporting recyclable material, loading trucks, and moving various race necessities to nearby storage.
FOOD ON THE 15TH
August 27th, 2016
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on August 27th, 2016 at Macy’s in the Columbia Mall to help run the Macy’s Coupon event for Food on the 15th. Food on the 15th partnered with Macy’s to fundraise by selling Macy’s coupons ranging from 10%-25%. Most of the proceeds go straight to Food on the 15th and their mission to aid low income elderly in Howard County. Volunteers from the Social Contract helped to sell the coupons throughout the day.
PANCREATIC CANCER RESEARCH WALK
August 14th, 2016
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on August 14th, 2016 at Centennial Park to help run the Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk, sponsored by the Lustgarten Foundation. Held annually, the Lustgarten Foundation looks to raise money for those affected by pancreatic cancer. The Social Contract volunteered to help set up before the walk and also monitored the walking path in order to further the organization’s cause.
Preparing Meal Kits for Roving Radish@Bushy Park ES
July 24th, 2016
On July 24th, 2016, the Social Contract Corporation volunteered for the Roving Radish at Bushy Park Elementary School in Glenwood, Maryland. Based in Howard County, the Roving Radish supplies food to those in need and promotes healthy eating by providing affordable meal kits consisting of food from local farms. The Social Contract volunteered to help prepare these meal kits for the organization.
Scouting For Food @ Bethany United Methodist Church and HoCo
Food Bank - March 19th, 2016
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on March 19th, 2016 at Bethany United Methodist Church and Howard County Food Bank for Scouting for Food. Scouting for Food is an event held by the Boy Scouts of America whose goal for the event is to sort and distribute food. Scouting for Food at Bethany United Methodist Church was organized by Sori Meredith. Scouting for food receives their food donations from various communities in Howard County and deploy boy scouts to collect them. The Social Contract volunteered to help collect and organize the donated food in the hopes of furthering the organizations purpose.
"Making An Impact Through Service" MLK Day of Service
January 18th, 2016
Representatives from The Social Contract Corporation attended the Martin Luther King’s Day of Service event, hosted by Be You, a nonprofit organization that encourages and assists young adults to become community leaders through volunteering events, classes, and mentoring. Several of Maryland’s youth clubs, such as be.a.coder, Girls Who Code, and the Social Impact Club, as well as representatives from Be You, also attended the meeting to discuss local, state, and national issues and propose potential solutions. Be You hosted the event to spread awareness of often overlooked issues and empower students to make a difference in their community.
Habitat For Humanity Columbia ReStore
July 19th, 2015
The Social Contract Corporation volunteered on July 19th, 2015 at the Habitat for Humanity Columbia ReStore. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit organization that sells new and used appliances, furniture, home accessories, and building materials. They receive their stock from donations from the public. They then work towards cleaning and restoring the objects. All the profits that the restore earns go towards helping the local community. The Social Contract volunteered to help restore furniture for the organization.
Volunteer Center Serving Howard County
June 29, 2015

On June 29, 2015, The Social Contract attended a program sponsored by the Volunteer Center Serving Howard County, a program that connects individuals to community organizations who utilize volunteers to meet their mission. Here, The Social Contract spoke to 10 to 12 campers that were part of Camp Make a Difference (CMAD), a week long summer camp that offers students in grades 6-9 the opportunity to incorporate service projects into their camp experience. Nishu Hosamane, our Chief Operating Officer, gave a brief presentation about The Social Contract and demonstrated to the campers how our organization benefits the community and provides great volunteering opportunities to anyone interested. To conclude the presentation, Hosamane elaborated upon her personal experiences as a member of The Social Contract and how it has impacted her life.
Thanksgiving Food Bank Collection - Pointers Run Elementary School
November 20th, 2014
The Thanksgiving Food Bank Collection event is held by Pointers Run Elementary School to spread awareness of food insecure residents throughout the county by inviting students and volunteers to bring and deliver canned goods throughout the county. The Social Contract volunteered at this event by organizing and assorting canned goods to be delivered to less fortunate in Howard County, as well as transporting certain canned items. The organization was also able to spread the mission of the Social Contract by speaking with many different community members.
"The help of our high school volunteers was invaluable at this year's annual Thanksgiving food bank collection, since it was our largest event of the year. High school volunteers helped sort and bag food for needy seniors in the community and helped store surplus food so it can be used for upcoming winter delivery. They also dropped off expired food items for donation to a local animal shelter. It is wonderful to see their responsibility and dedication for this worthy cause."

MARTI Maryland Turkish American Cultural Day Reception

The Maryland Turkish American Cultural Day is an event held by MARTI to spread the culture of Turkish Americans throughout the region by inviting State Senators and Legislators to experience it for themselves. The Social Contract volunteered at this event by helping setup the event and introducing its guests. The organization was also able to spread the mission of the Social Contract by speaking with many local government leaders.

"Youth on a Mission" Mission Trip with the Glan Mar Church
February 1st, 2014
This event, attended by Govardhen Arunagiri, helped to fund-raise for the Glan Mar church's mission trip to New Orleans this year. Together, they were able to raise over $2,000.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service with The 6th Branch
January 20th, 2014
Hosted by the 6th Branch non-profit group, this event sought to clean-up Ambrose Park in Baltimore, MD. The Social Contract was able to assist in these efforts by sending a large number of volunteers to help in the restoration.
